Last night a friend and I were talking about how it's been 25 yrs since we saw Iron Maiden live for the first time. Now this..... It's offical, I'm old.
Just one more thing lately that makes me feel old. *sigh* But it's such an awesome song/album.
Yeah... I mean it's not like I was a little kid when this came out!! It IS a great record. A friend of mine told me he's going to make his kids listen to it all weekend and inform them that this is real music... not that crap they listen to today. I'm only hoping he takes his dentures out and waggles his cane while doing so.
"I get up around seven, get out of bed around nine..."

Yup, good stuff. Need to dig this CD out and rip a few tunes to mu iPod. Jungle, Brownstone, Sweet Child o' Mine.

I try to get my kids to listen to music from my era, but they usually refuse. Then some indie band covers Breakfast in America and they're all bopping along, but still refuse to listen to the original. Gah.
This came out the summer before I went off to college. This is also the same stuff (along with Van Halen) that my kid (13) listens to for the 'guitar solos' so he can teach himself. Back then, I had no clue that this music would be used in that way. Last I remember listening to this I had way too many bud lights and was in some dorm somewhere in college doing things I will never admit to my child nor anyone else.

My parents always made me listen to folk and folk rock and then, later on, Jimi Hendrix... then John Denver. Knowing what I know about MY past as a parent... leads me to believe my parents went from pot to acid to valium when I was growing up....

I wonder what my child will think about me???? Altho, I am the one who introduces him to new bands. I think I try to stay 'cutting edge' so as to pre-empt any questions.

I'm cool, yeah, i'm cool. Weehoo, I'm cool.... ;)
